Prof. Mustafa Hrasnica, professional CE, Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering University of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, former dean of the Faculty in two legislation periods, scientific advisor in the Institute for Building Materials and Structures,. Graduated at the University of Sarajevo, Master of Science and Ph.D. at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Research area of interest: earthquake resistant design, contemporary, existing and historical buildings, dynamics of structures, reinforced concrete and masonry buildings. Teaching activities in bachelor, master and doctoral studies. Mentor for diploma, master and doctoral thesis. Engaged as structural designer and consultant for various civil engineering projects. Published papers in journals, scientific and professional conferences and symposia. Author of three books in the field of earthquake resistant design, served as editor and reviewer as well. Since 1987 structural engineer – designer in the companies “Projekt” and “Dom-SPI” in Sarajevo, than in the “Ingenieurbüro Dr.-Ing. Friedrich Haas”, Munich, Germany. More than 100 projects of multi-storey residential, public and commercial buildings, road and railway bridges, industrial facilities. Research fellow at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim in 1991, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale Lausanne, Switzerland 1998-1999 and 2005. Since 20 years leader of cooperation between Faculty of Civil Engineering in Sarajevo and Institut für Konstruktion und Entwerfen, University of Stuttgart. Member of Deutsche Aufschuss für Stahlbeton - DAfStb, International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering – IABSE, one of the founders of the Association of Structural Engineers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
