In recent years the repair of concrete structures has become a worldwide activity. The increasing amount of prematurely deteriorating concrete infrastructure worldwide, which is linked mainly to the effect of reinforcement corrosion, has resulted in significant efforts to develop methodology and specification for quality control and repair of concrete structures. However, the diagnosis, design, selection of products, and execution of repair works need to be adjusted to the individual condition of the buildings, thus requiring knowledge and methodology among all the people involved.
European Standard EN 1504, provides a systematic approach from the principles and methods of repair and protection of concrete structures through to the selection of suitable products and quality control.
Main aim of the project is to test chosen methodology for systematic approach in diagnosis and protection of concrete structures on case study – Velež stadium grandstands. The project will be implemented at Centre for Research at Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, Faculty of Civil Engineering.
Conduct a systematic assessment of the structure – Velež grandstand, using European Standard EN 1504 that provides a systematic approach from the principles and methods of repair and protection of concrete structures through to the selection of suitable products and quality control,
Developed / tested methodology for diagnosis and selection of products for repair taking into consideration condition of the individual building,
Developed model for diagnosis, repair possibilities and maintenance for similar structures.
Test various concrete mixtures in order to determine optimal solution for new grandstand (optimal related to the individual condition of the grandstand).
Three master theses:
- Architectural approach – possibilities for stadium structure upgrade and acceptable for people with disabilities
- Structural approach – material testing and possibilities for concrete for grandstands – work with industry sector
- Structural approach – diagnosis, principles and methods of repair and protection of concrete structures – work with industry sector
